Late October in Chicago always feels a little softer. The air’s cooler. The city slows down just enough. Everything feels cozier without trying. That’s exactly how AJ and Scott’s day felt.
Nothing about this wedding was loud or performative. It wasn’t trying to prove anything. It was small, intentional, and built around what felt good to them, not what weddings are “supposed” to look like.
Their ceremony took place at The Wiener’s Circle, which felt perfectly on-brand in a way that didn’t need explaining. Not for shock value. Not to be different. Just because it felt like them. Comfortable. Familiar. Unpretentious.
We spent time walking through Lincoln Park near the Lincoln Park Conservatory. Leaves on the ground. Jackets on. That quiet, in-between-season feeling where you’re aware of the moment without rushing through it. The kind of time where you can actually check in with each other.
Ending the evening at Bitter Popz was exactly what these two and their crew needed. A packed Trolley ride filled through the city with 50 guests brought out the best laughs and shared stories before we entered reception!
This day was a reminder that small, cozy weddings hit differently. When you strip things back, the focus shifts. You notice the air. The light. The way people settle into themselves when they’re not being watched or rushed.
